Title
Clinical Psychologist
Who am I?
I am a Clinical Psychologist of 30 years experience and have worked in various NHS settings including GP practices, physical health settings and a university medical practice. I now offer therapy and supervision in private practice. I am trained in various models of therapy including Internal Family Systems therapy, ACT, CBT and Narrative Therapy. I’d describe my therapeutic approach as integrative in the sense that I don’t believe a single theory can capture the complexity of human experience. For me the key to successful therapy is the ability to tune into another person’s lived experience and listen deeply.
My experience and interests include neurodivergence, attachment, complex trauma and life transitions. I aim to recognise and include the impact of inequality, systemic exclusion and discrimination. I am a neurodivergent affirming therapist and part of a neurodivergent family.
I am registered with the HCPC and am a member ACP-UK.
You might want to see me if:
- You are going through a difficult life transition and want to find a way to navigate it
- You are experiencing grief or loss and want a safe place to explore it
- You are exploring a neurodivergent identity for yourself or your child
- You want to explore how your earliest experiences of attachment affect your current relationships.
- You are a parent considering alternative educational pathways such as home-based education or unschooling
- You have experience of trauma which might include childhood trauma, relationship-based trauma or trauma as a result of bullying, discrimination or oppression
- You want to explore and better understand your relationships
My Style:
My guiding values are cooperation, authenticity, compassion and curiosity. I am committed to learning from clients and I prioritise the creation of a safe, trusting therapeutic relationship. Influenced by humanistic and existential approaches, I see the therapeutic space as a place of creative exploration. I have an enduring interest in approaches that foreground the impact of systemic oppression and societal inequalities.
