About The Psychology
Co-operative

We aim to make psychology more accessible not just at an individual level but as a whole. Whether that is offering free or low cost workshops to share psychological ideas as widely as we can – to questioning the very models that psychology is built on and their roots in systems that have been oppressive.

Three core beliefs at the Psychology Co-operative

TPC One Person PatternLarge 1

Psychological ideas should be accessible to everyone.

TPC Two People PatternLarge 1

We can’t support others unless we are working in sustainable ways ourselves.

TPC 3 people patternLarge

We are all humans. And as messy and flawed as every other human.

These beliefs run through all of our work.

We aim to support each other in our work, reflect on the impact of our work on us and understand the ways we operate as individuals and as a group so that we can show up wholeheartedly to our work. We also aim to offer these reflective spaces to other professionals, to understand the things that can get in the way of our therapeutic relationships.

We aim to bring our whole, human selves to our work and to meet people where they are. Fellow humans, on a journey of discovery together – to help you understand yourself with a guide by your side. Our stance as humans – expert in our field but coming as equal partners to our work with you – is also behind our organisation as a co-operative. Our organisation is owned and controlled by our Members.

Become a Member ~
Clinical, Specialist, Critical Friend

Everyone is welcome to become a Co-operative Member. We have three types of Membership depending on the availability and skills that you would like to bring to the Co-operative. All members are expected to engage in the running of the Co-operative, vote on decisions and actively support our work.

Clinical Membership – This is for psychologists, coaches and therapists.

Specialist Membership – This is for anyone who would like to be involved in the Co-operative who may have other skills to offer. A non-clinical role, you might be a supervisor or consultant or be skilled in administrative support, supervision, social media, marketing, pitching, fundraising or anything else!

Critical Friend – This is for anyone who is interested in our work and would like to be involved in decision making but not offering personal support. This might be fellow professionals or clients of the Co-op.
